Germany Salary Calculator

The calculator implements the official 2026 calculation formula of Germany's Federal Ministry of Finance – the same formula used by employer payroll software to calculate wage tax.

Tax classes

The tax class mainly determines how wage tax is distributed during the year – not how much tax is ultimately owed for the year (that's settled by the annual tax return). Class I applies to singles, Class II to single parents, Class III/V to married couples with unequal income, Class IV to similar incomes, Class VI to a second job.

Solidarity surcharge

Since 2021, only higher earners pay the solidarity surcharge: it only applies once annual wage tax exceeds €20,350 (€40,700 for joint assessment), with a mitigation zone just above the threshold.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my actual net pay differ slightly from the calculated result?
The calculator models the standard case (statutory health insurance, no special payments). Individual factors such as short-time work, benefits in kind or registered allowances can change the actual result.
Does the calculator handle private health insurance (PKV)?
No. Private health insurance premiums depend on the individual plan, age and health status and cannot be calculated generically.

Austria Salary Calculator

The calculator models regular payroll for salaried employees and workers (ASVG, ÖGK): social insurance first (employee share 18.07%, 18.32% in Vienna, up to the €6,930/month ceiling, with the reduced unemployment-insurance rates for low earners), then wage tax from the official 2026 monthly/effective tax table. The 13th and 14th salary are calculated separately: 17.07% social insurance, then 6% wage tax up to the annual sixth (allowance €620, exemption limit €2,615).

The monthly wage tax reproduces the official worked example of AK Vienna (tax base €3,632.78 → €694.64 wage tax) exactly; for €3,000 gross per month (14×), net pay, social insurance and wage tax match common Austrian salary calculators to the cent.

Austria Solar Revenue Calculator

The calculation follows the standard PV economics model: annual production, split into self-consumption and feed-in, annual costs (maintenance) and returns (savings + feed-in revenue) over a 20-year horizon, including panel degradation and an optional net present value (NPV) calculation.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the payback period shorter with a battery?
Self-consumption saves the full electricity price (approx. 23 ct/kWh), while feed-in only earns the feed-in tariff (approx. 5-11 ct/kWh) – a factor of 3-4x. A battery significantly increases the self-consumption share and therefore annual savings.
Are the subsidy amounts binding?
No. Subsidy amounts, budgets and conditions change with each funding call. The values used in the calculator are estimates – check the EAG funding portal and any regional/municipal subsidies before applying.

Austria Benefits Check

The Benefits Check matches your answers about employment, family, income and housing situation against around 20 Austrian subsidies and support programs, whose criteria are publicly documented by the Austrian Chamber of Labour (AK), the AMS and other bodies (as of 2026).

Frequently asked questions

Is this a binding entitlement check?
No. Many benefits depend on detailed criteria that this check deliberately simplifies (exact income, assets, federal state, case-by-case assessment). It offers a first orientation – for a binding answer, contact your AK advice centre, the AMS, or the relevant authority.
Are my answers stored?
No. All answers are processed exclusively locally in your browser and are never transmitted or stored anywhere.

Austria Social Benefits Calculator

The social benefits calculator quantifies three benefits from the Benefits Check. Unemployment benefit: basic amount 55% of the daily net income (at most €78.77/day in 2026), supplementary amount up to the compensation-allowance reference rate (€43.61/day) capped at 60% or 80% of net income, family supplement €0.97/day. Childcare payment: the KBG account with a fixed total (€15,016.10 / €18,759.84) divided by the chosen benefit period, or income-dependent at 80% of prior earnings (€41.14–80.12/day). Commuter allowance: small/large allowance under § 16 Income Tax Act plus the commuter euro (€6/km/year, 2026); the tax saving is computed via the Austria salary calculator.

Sources: § 21 Unemployment Insurance Act and AMS (unemployment benefit), Federal Chancellery "Kinderbetreuungsgeld 2026", § 16 Income Tax Act and AK Vienna "Meine Lohnabrechnung 2026" (commuter allowance). The KBG-account daily rates (€41.14 shortest, €17.65 longest period) are checked against the official values.

Austria Self-Employed Calculator

The calculator models compulsory insurance under the GSVG (SVS): health insurance 6.8%, pension insurance 18.5%, self-employed provision 1.53% and the fixed accident insurance (€155.40/year), bounded by the minimum contribution base (€551.10/month) and the maximum contribution base (€8,085/month). The contribution base is the profit plus the prescribed health/pension contributions – arithmetically the profit before deducting the SVS contributions, which is what the calculator expects as input. Income tax follows the 2026 tariff (§ 33 Income Tax Act); before that the basic part of the profit allowance is deducted (15% of profit up to €33,000). VAT, the investment-based profit allowance, lump-sum taxation, the reduced provisional contribution base in the first three years and separate chamber systems (FSVG, welfare funds) are not modelled.

Austria Property Purchase Costs Calculator

The calculator adds up the incidental costs of a property purchase: real estate transfer tax 3.5% of the purchase price (within the favoured circle of persons per § 26a GGG, a tiered rate of 0.5% up to €250,000, 2% up to €400,000, 3.5% above, on the property value), land registry entry fee 1.1% for ownership and 1.2% for a mortgage lien (on the maximum amount entered, usually 120–130% of the loan), fixed filing fees per land registry application (~€47), the freely agreed fee for contract drafting and escrow (default 1.5% + 20% VAT) and – only if engaged by the buyer – the agent commission (up to 3% + VAT). Total cost minus the loan gives the equity required.

Sources: § 4 and § 7 Real Estate Transfer Tax Act, § 26a and § 32 TP 9 Court Fees Act (GGG). The temporary fee exemption for owner-occupied homes (§ 25a GGG, entry and lien fee up to a €500,000 assessment base) expired on 30 June 2026 and is no longer modelled.

Austria Heat Pump Switch Calculator

From the old system's annual consumption and its annual efficiency the calculator derives the useful heat and divides it by the heat pump's seasonal performance factor to get the electricity demand. Running costs (energy + maintenance) are projected over the time horizon – fossil energy/heat and electricity at separate rates of increase. The net extra investment is the investment minus subsidy and, in "replacement due anyway" mode, minus the price of a new like-for-like system. Payback is the point at which the cumulative saving reaches the extra investment; net present value (NPV) and the CO₂ saving are also shown. The grid mix is held constant.

Sources: investment and operating cost ranges from Austrian installers and energy advice centres (2026), emission factors from the Environment Agency Austria, subsidy information from Kommunalkredit Public Consulting (KPC) and the Climate and Energy Fund. The large federal subsidies ("Sanierungsoffensive", "Sauber Heizen für Alle") closed to new applications in mid-2026.

Rent Check Austria (Richtwert)

The calculator first checks whether the Richtwert rent applies at all: building permit up to 8 May 1945, more than two flats in the building, lease signed on or after 1 March 1994. It then starts from the federal state's Richtwert, deducts 25% for category B and 50% for category C, adds the entered amenity surcharges or discounts as a percentage of the Richtwert plus any location surcharge stated in the lease, and reduces the result by 25% for fixed-term leases. Category D is capped by the fixed amount under § 16 (5) MRG, leases before March 1994 by the category rent. The difference from the actual rent is projected over at most 36 months.

Sources: Richtwerte and category rates from 1 April 2026 per Statistics Austria (§ 5 (2) RichtWG, § 16 (6) MRG); § 1 (2) 5, § 15a, § 16 (1)–(8) and § 27 (3) MRG; category discounts per konsumentenfragen.at (Ministry of Social Affairs). Location and amenity surcharges are not set by law and are not estimated.
